Write better than you?

If a me/e vs an e/me using only mesmer skills, the mesmer would win. Either because a) the ele will cast through things like diversion etc because the mesmer would fast cast them over the ele, then proceed to interrupt s/he or b) the mesmer will wand the ele to death because the ele won't cast through things like diversion and will just eventually sit there.

I'm guessing this is a troll thread but I'm going to reply anyway.

Fast casting is very useful on a primary mesmer. Those annoying long casts can be shortened by more than a second. Runes are also useful, so unless you're using a mesmer without any mesmer skills, thats another reason. Play it farther than presearing before you complain it sucks.

Primary Mesmers can boost their stats 4 points higher than secondaries.

Yeah.

They're good for confounding the dumbest players in PvP - because those W/Mos are the ones who get kited when they charge your Mesmer because they think you're no threat (you know... the ones that like to troll about how weak primary mesmers are).

for the 4 on 4 Arena, especially against Warriors, Fire Rangers, Elementalist Smiters, Mesmers that love backfire and Skills that target spells... (so basically against 90% of all the scum in there):

Me/Mo

3+3 fast casting

12 smiting
holy wrath
retribution
Signet of Judgement
Bane Signet

12+2 Inspiration magic
Leech Signet
Signet of Humility
Signet of Weariness
Mantra of Inscriptions

The armor set that gives -5 energy.

Use order: Mantra of inscriptions, Retribution on 2 allys, Holy Wrath on 2 allys. (you decide when, but after that youll never have more than 1 energy again)
Use signets, as long as you have 0 energy everything is fine.
Recast enchantments if removed, you'll notice it by gaining energy.
This build is weak against necromancers, elementalists, and Smiting (but not against smiting eles), so whats were you should use your signets against, it will screw them up easily because their builds are too easy to disturb!

You can Replace Retribution with the Res Signet.
You can also use 11+2 Inspiration Magic 10 Smiting Prayers and 10+1 Fast Casting.
This also Works as Mo/Me 12+2 Smiting 12 inspiration, its a little weaker, but its more fun to see mesmers wasting Backfire, shame, guild, Arcane Conundrum... on you just because every retard targets the monk first.
Thank god they are still too stupid to use panic, diversion, Mind Wrack....

There are a lot of good threads discussing just how good (and how underrated) mesmers are. Do a search in the SF forum, there is a recent long thread there, titled something like "oh great, another place where my mesmer is not wanted".

Read this thread, and you will begin to appreciate what a mesmer actually can do.

This is a joke right?
interrupting....faster casting of interrupts....hmm....
nah, that doesn't make any sense.

oh wait...standing still for long casting times is not a good thing while you are being hit...yeah, faster casting may help.
nah, that doesn't make any sense.

That's a joke, right? Interrupts are already on a .25s casting time. Fast Casting is only going to be shaving off fractions of a second (if that), which is a waste of attribute points. Fast Casting only makes a notable difference on the 2-3s+ casting times, and even then it isn't worth using attributes on. Fast Casting's always seemed to be something you just dump your unused points in, and slap a Minor Rune on. And it works in that sense, it's a good attribute.

The reason to go Mesmer primary, however, is the mask and Runes. +3/+4 can make one hell of a difference.

I am a newby to PVP but got invited last night for a little GvG. So as Mesmer, at one point this enemy warrior starts to really go after me. I seem to be alone on my own, with no help from my team (they had their own problems) and, gee, I didn't equip any direct damaging skills like energy burn or phantasm.

So I used arcane echo followed by clumsiness followed by ineptitude followed by clumsiness again and then a bit of cry of frustration, and suddenly that warrior was running away from me! He died shortly afterwards.

I don't know if fast casting helps here, but I had it up to level 8.

It is.

It helps fractionally, but certainly not enough to warrant investing in Fast Casting. I kind of added that in a whim.

Fast Casting up to now is mostly used by me/mo for fast ressing in the minion build and the me/ele for high dps/sec.
